Giving Guidelines

Mission Statement

The Texas Linemen Foundation’s mission is:
  • to provide support through financial assistance to injured electrical lineworkers and their families; and
  • to teach and promote safety and best practices to electrical lineworkers.

Primary Giving Purpose and Its Guidelines

Primary Giving Purpose: The foundation’s Primary Giving Purpose is to provide financial assistance to injured electric utility workers and their families.
Whom will we give to?
  • A person who is performing electric utility work, their surviving family members, or an organization that can or has provided assistance to the injured person, e.g. Dell Seton Medical Center.
  • The injury is not limited to an electrocution. It could be the result of a fall while working or other “on the job” injuries.
Criteria?
  • Injury must occur while “on the job”.
  • The injury must be significant or catastrophic resulting in an extended stay in the hospital or in recovery.
  • The injured person must reside or work for a utility in one of the below shaded counties of Central Texas. In the case of “mutual assistance” work, the injured person does not have to be working in one of the below shaded counties if the other criteria are met.
  • Board will review each case individually to meet these standards.
  • As the foundation grows, the geographic area supported by the foundation may be expanded.
How Much?
  • A donation, whether to an individual or an organization, will not exceed 25 % of the foundation’s net annual proceeds.
  • Funds will be donated to recipients within the limits set forth in TLF’s Classification Amounts.
Classification Amounts
  • Amounts donated to an injured lineworker or their family will relate to the severity of the situation. TLF has defined amounts and guidelines available to be viewed upon request.

Secondary Purpose

  • If at some point in the future, the Texas Linemen Foundation (“TLF”) has sufficient resources to undoubtedly meet its primary purposes for the foreseeable future, then the TLF will use surplus funds to issue scholarships to qualifying individuals. Scholarships will be made available to people in Central Texas who perform electric utility work or a child of a person who performs electric utility work in Central Texas and are seeking to further their education or career by attending classes at a four year university, a two year university, a trade school, or another institution. This secondary purpose will not impede or compromise the TLF’s primary purpose. The TLF expects to begin to support its secondary purpose late 2024 at the earliest.
